Multiple Dropbox Accounts

I love Dropbox for storing my important files out there in the cloud, being able to access them from anywhere and sharing them between all my devices. In fact, I love it so much I want to have two Dropbox accounts sat side by side, one for work and another for all my personal data. Trouble is, you can only have one instance of Dropbox running on your computer, right?

Well, actually no! If you are a Mac user you are in luck, thanks to developer Ward Clark. Head on over to his website and download the clever free utility  ‘Dropbox Encore’.

Dropbox Encore works for Macs running OSX 10.5 (Leopard) and later, including the latest Mountain Lion,  and allows a user to run two Dropbox instances simultaneously. This makes maintaining a work and personal account a breeze, and allows for great flexibility when moving files about.

Its easy to set up. Just install Dropbox Encore and create a new folder location for your second dropbox account on your machine. Then, when you follow the normal Dropbox wizard to set up your second account just make sure to select the ‘advanced installation’ option and choose the ‘alternate folder location’ to point your second Dropbox account to the new folder location you already created.

There you go, multiple dropbox accounts installed and configured on your computer. Thanks Ward.
