A Vaio Screen Swap

Replacing a broken screen on a Sony Vaio VPCEE3E0E

It never ceases to amaze me the number of machines that come into the surgery with broken or damaged screens. Today I had a rather nice Sony Vaio VPCEE3E0E with a screen that had obviously met with a bit of an accident!

Now laptop screens generally can tolerate the odd slight knock with no lasting effects, but are certainly susceptible to damage if dropped, bashed or even sat on!

Swopping out a screen can sometimes be a little fiddly, but always quite rewarding as its nice to power a machine back on and see the display spring back to life. Mind you, if you want to save some of your hard earned pennies, then follow these simple rules.

No leaving the laptop on the floor, balanced on the arm of the settee or hidden on the bed under the duvet, especially with the lid open! That’s just asking for trouble. Don’t leave anything resting on the keyboard. I’ve had more than one smashed screen where the laptop lid was closed down over a pen.

Remember, when not in use, always close the laptop lid for protection. After all, that’s what it’s there for! Follow these simple reminders and the chances are your laptop screen will stay safe and secure.
