An Expensive Spillage

Rebuilding a MacBook Pro

Macbook Pro Logic Board Replacement

You know liquids and laptops really don’t mix very well. I’ve just finished repairing a 2009 unibody MacBook Pro which had been rendered dead by a spillage over the keyboard by it’s owner. Now replacing a keyboard in a MacBook Pro involves a complete strip down of the machine.

The keyboard itself is held in place with about 50 minute screws, so replacing one is not the quickest of jobs and most certainly one that requires care and attention plus good eyesight! Unfortunately, where the logic board is also damaged and needs replacing, these repair jobs can get expensive. Apple components, however well made, are not cheap by any means.

Still, the unibody MacBook Pro is a fine machine and normally well worth repairing. After some careful surgery, this model has been restored to health and should give many more years of loyal and reliable service. Just don’t put that cup of tea nearby!
