Fixing a non-charging Dell Inspiron 1525
This is the second Dell Inspiron 1525 that I’ve had in the surgery in recent weeks where the battery is not being charged even though the mains power adapter is plugged in and seemingly working ok. There seems to be a bit of a weakness here with this particular model. A laptop with a permanently flat battery can be inconvenient at best, next to useless at worst. The fix is normally straightforward and involves replacing the power board.
Not an expensive part, but in order to fit it you have to strip the laptop down completely.
Not a job for the fainthearted, but the result is a laptop restored to full health with a battery being correctly charged when under mains operation. There you are, a relatively inexpensive repair completed and a machine good to go for another few years reliable service.
There we have it, a happily charging Dell Inspiron 1525.
