Simple Screen Capture on the Mac

If you already use a Mac, you probaby know just how good it is! I love the way everything just seems to work and performing even the simplest of tasks seems that bit easier than when using Windows!

Here’s a good example. You want to capture part of your screen and save it as a picture file on your desktop.

Simple! Just press the Command-Shift-4 keys. A cross-hair cursor will appear and you can use your mouse to click and drag in order to select the area you wish to capture. When you release the mouse button, the screen shot is automatically saved on your desktop.

Alternatively, to capture the entire desktop, press Command-Shift-3.  Once again, the screen shot will be automatically saved on your desktop.

To copy the entire desktop, press Command-Control-Shift-3. The screen shot will be placed on your clipboard for you to paste away into another program.

There you have it. Screen capture the Mac way. Simple as blinking!
